Incident of National University of Modern Languages of Feb.5th is one of the enormous and imperative incident in NUML`s history which lead the registrar to submit his resign as a result of powerful and potent student’s protest in favor of their professor Mr. Tahir Malik. Registrar was actually a retired army brigadier; university mainly includes and prejudiced by amount of retired army men. And these army men refused to follow the proper procedure of inquiry for the incident happened with the university professor.

Instead of being treated as one of the victim of the incident, Mr. Tahir Malik and his colleagues who had supported him are now facing number of different threats of coercion, persecution and aggravation.

Although, Mr. Tahir Malik was the victim of the incident yet he was handed over by a show-cause-notice. This is just due to put pressure on the professor and to take revenge from him and for this proper lobby has been made by the opponents which includes the military retired people. Almost all the universities of Pakistan are now occupied by army retired men. They occupied main and important positions in academics and administration department. Moreover, position of vice chancellor is also been occupied by different army men in most of the universities. predicament is this that most of the universities are having corrupt culture and includes distrust, biasness, poorness, discrimination, doubt and favoritism etc. So, problem is increasing, no body is interested in highlighting the issue. The reason of not to rose the voice is actually the mistreatment with all the daring people who used to rose their voice like professor Tahir Malik. Ruling class is there to achieve its self interests. Our universities have become cantonment by these military dictators and they forget the original notion of an educational institute, NUML is one of the immense examples. Situation is so fragile and weak everywhere, many examples are there. Karachi university, Balochistan university, Punjab university are all facing intricate problems related to corruption, ethnicity and with various other clashes of different political groups. Dilemma is this nobody is raising his/her voice against these problems when everybody is having a audacious and intrepid example of NUML`s faculty members and of students. Government should take these problems into account and should brought democracy in these educational institutions to enhance the well-being of everyone.

that incident depicts our social behaviour not only this incident but followed by some other in different universities are highly condemnable….. silence is not the way out now if there is silence then we had to break this because now this silence is turning into sin.

Got something to say?
