voice of democracy

Save Democracy has become a common slogan of Pakistani politicians. At time when Pakistan is going through a very critical phase because of war between military and militant in the Northern Areas of Pakistan, effects of global economic crisis and increased security problem future of country is in an uncertain state, politicians are talking about elections, how to save democracy and what last government has done. In these matters none of the devoted leaders of Pakistan has thought about any strategy for the future of Pakistan as a land. British Council’s report on the new generation’s views highlights some of the sever problems Pakistan will be facing because of environmental changes in the near future. As one right now faced by all is the natural gas problem. But leaders have to save democracy and this does not concern it, so they can not afford their time to plan for such things.

Moreover, there are talks about improvement in different sectors except Education. This may not seem to them as sector needing any improvement probably. Our syllabus has not been revised up to the present advancement in technology and field of science, but yes cover page is regularly changed. While graduating a new thing come to my knowledge was that this revision is not only needed till intermediate; course of university is also same which our teachers read before retirement from lectureship. Amid all this one change that always occurs is in the pattern of exams, time to time higher authorities are testing about the method of exams by switching one year to objective and next year to subjective. British Council’s report says that in 2040 Pakistan will be facing serve problem of clean water as due to environment change glaciers are melting. Further the population is increasing at a very high rate every day. The war on terrorism has caused in the Northern Areas highly paid damages on the cost of future of those areas as the infrastructure has been destroyed and needs lots of money to rebuild it. Youth is facing a great challenge of unemployment. This is increasing frustration in young people. Education rate is very low. Quality education is scarce. Now student’s lives are at risk too. Inflation rate is very high. Amidst all this all the planner who should think to make theses things better can only think of is to Save democracy.

With every passing day Pakistan is going back wards. Investors are afraid to come in the country but no solution is thought about these matters. All saviors of country want a political change. They are busy in talks about the government, its officials, its policies, its mistakes and how the amendment is needed in the constitution of Pakistan to allow a person to become a prime minister for third time. I could not find any clue how it will help Pakistan to be stable by giving a person another chance to go in government; who has once with the same promises has done the damage to the country. We all have to think where we are heading towards? What future we want for us and our new generation? What is needed for a stable Pakistan? How we can fight the challenges that Pakistan will be facing in the near future? What we want our children to become? What output all government policies will bring? How it will affect future in a positive way? These questions need to be answered in the better interest of Pakistan. If we want along with the same strategy to save democracy; then it May be that we will surely save democracy but destroy Pakistan. So we have to think where we are heading towards?
