Being a seo it is very important to know that what is the importance of meta tags and how you have to you use those meta tags. Let me tell you clearly that Meta tags now have no importance. Or little importance meta tags were used by the search engines to was used to help search engines to organize the web. meta tags helped search engines to list documents and listed key words quires. At the start theses meta tags had great importance however they lost their relevancy. Now supported by only one major crawler-based search engine Inktomithe value of adding meta keywords tags to pages appears little worth the time.
Technology has now gotten to that stage where search engines can do a full index of page copy. search engines have been able to view entire pages- the hidden inputs like meta tags have lost much of their importance in relevancy algorithms.
Meta tags are no longer the primary ranking criteria in major search engines- though I still recommend using them .People began to use large amount of un related and unfocused content which was sometimes off the topics as these meta tags were really important at that time so using keywords in the meta tags resulted in higher ranking so some porn web and other webs used this trick which resulted the down fall of the meta tag.
