Wuthering heights

The story of novel Wuthering heights is of “love that never ends and satisfied till union of both souls burning with the passion of love”. The story revolves around Heathcliff and Catharine named as Cathy through out novel. Life has a circle that those who are despised in the beginning remain the same mostly and they get free with hard struggle and life taking efforts. This story depicts this fact of life as Heathcliff who was despised from the beginning didn’t get what he wanted. He got rich for the purpose he wanted: to get Cathy. But still he failed. When he returned from the journey of life with wealth he didn’t achieve the aim.  Both souls didn’t find rest in the places they were. They longed for each other. It was similar to take out a plant from the sphere of universe which makes things abrupt. Till the time they remain a part they burned for each other. The world didn’t let them meet and Heathcliff; seen mostly as a villain, took revenge from all people responsible for it and reached at the position where once he was  not and due to it, faced all the miseries of life. He accumulated all wealth he can because he could not gethis love being poor. Cathy died in the misery of separation.

This revenge lasted for second generation. It ended in the reunion of Cathy’s daughter named after her and the son of his brother whom Heathcliff treated the same as once he was treated by the young boy’s father. World does not understands that those who love can not imagine life without each other and when it tries to change the reality lives suffer, which does not come to end till they find peace in each other, whether in this life or beyond. Cathy died but Heathcliff some how knew that they will meet once again which kept him devising on the plan to take revenge form the people who were by any mean reason for all things. Heathcliff is not a negative character; any one who suffers out of nothing behaves the same if not compensated with any remedy. He did what a person deprived from love could do or should have done. Thus blaming him is not appropriate. He was compelled by heart to do whatever in access to put others in misery that had made him once suffer. It is natural to human beings who had once suffered in life unjustly they find peace in others suffering. Actually Heathcliff by making others suffer was trying to make his heart easy and happy. The frustration he has stored for the past years was taken out on everyone. One can not blame such a person who was hated since childhood, shunned when grew up and never respected in life for rude behavior. Majority is not exposed to such situations and that’s the reason they don’t understand the pain of love.  The novel takes to the lives of people burning with intense passion of love. How intense love can be and how revengeful a person can be; the novel reveals this to its reader. The whole set up of novel is gloomy and dark as the heart of Heathcliff. This ends with the death of both Heathcliff and Cathy finding each other on the moors where once they ran together in childhood. There they find peace in the long journey of life of restlessness. Even in death they were not parted. Such is the longing of love.
